BHIFF is wide eyed, bushy tailed, and dancing for joy to introduce the winner for best animated short The Legend Of The Jack O' Lantern.
A film about an undertaker who is loathed as the graveyard prankster, creating masks to frighten his community. One day his schemes backfire as he pranks someone, who is eager to humble him.
Director Biography
Daniela (Dan) Francisca Sandoval Sandoval is a South African Student Director, Writer and 3D Artist. A recent graduate of The Animation School.
Director Statement
Macabre stop motion has always held a special place in my heart, especially for its often-unique ability to deal with darker subject matter that can still be enjoyed by all ages. I celebrate Halloween with a fierce passion, which is not popular in South Africa, but I was the kid who wore Halloween masks to school in the middle of May. Really this is a love letter to the holiday and its origins, which has Celtic roots and is a part of my family heritage. We wanted to replicate the style in 3D to cut across mediums and create something that stands out.
